My question is in relation to the Bonus action to bring out the arms and if it synergizes with the Mobile Feat. when i open the fight with this bonus action and target every enemy in 10ft of me, will i provoke attacks of opportunity for the rest of my turn?
Arms of the Astral Self, pg. 50
As a bonus action, you can spend 1 ki point to summon the arms of your astral self. When you do so, each creature of your choice that you can see within 10 ft. of you must succeed on a DEX saving throw (DC:15) or take 2d6 force damage.
For 10 minutes:
- You can use your WIS modifier in place of your STR modifier when making STR checks/saving throws.
- You can use the spectral arms to make unarmed strikes.
- When you make an unarmed strike with the arms on your turn, your reach for it is 5 ft. greater than normal.
- The unarmed strikes you make with the arms can use your WIS modifier in place of your STR or DEX modifier for the attack and damage rolls, and their damage type is force.
Mobile, pg. 168
Your speed increases by 10 feet. When you use the Dash action, difficult terrain doesn't cost you extra movement on that turn. When you make a melee attack against a creature, you don't provoke opportunity attacks from that creature for the rest of the turn, whether you hit or not.
The area of effect feature of Astral Arms isn't a melee attack, so it wouldn't trigger Mobile. While there a rare few possible exceptions (due to auto hits or such) an attack always involves an attack roll, whereas the astral arms "blast" only asks for a saving throw.
Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.
This is Confusing since the Damage for this action matches 2x my Monk Die, and the range now matches my updated range with my arms. Another confusing thought is that the arms are implied to have hit with force damage upon being summoned, and after the arms can be used for this feature via a regular attack action or bonus action.
Thank you for your time and answering my question!
Cheers
