Fargen nods in agreement. "Nobody go near the water alone or disturb the creature and hopefully this night will be uneventful."
During his watches, Fargen warms himself near the campfire and pulls out his dragon bones. He pulls out a few embers of the fire and tosses the bones over them to studies the pattern over the glowing embers to ask Moradin:
Just reread the spell, so unsure if the 30 mins makes this an appropriate usage. For fun, the course of action could be finding the lady and trying to interact with her again.
Nobody bites his lip to keep from chuckling, and simply offers to take 3rd or last watch along with his familiar. As far as his horse goes the tiefling still appeared torn about approaching it, and only ultimately does so after recalling the nature of the group's mission. So, once his looked hopefully nice and sedate after drinking their fill, he tries to bring back to treeline as well to tie them off for the night using the lead rope and a hopefully solid tree.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Doyal drops his gear by a tree but seeing Nobody's reaction out of the corner of his eye causes him to turn to Fargen and remark, "Now just for clarification my fine dwarven friend, did you want him," pointing at the tiefling, "to go to the water to disturb the creature hoping to chase it away or did you mean for none of us to go near the water in hopes that will allow us a calm night?"
Doyal will follow Nobody's lead and once his horse has finished drinking will attempt to tie it to the same tree he dropped his gear by. Once the camp is all set up, he will nod, "I can take one of first watches if the rest of you want to get some rest."
Fargen suggests to Thufir they hobble their horses together. "You know, like prisoners. I'll take the 2nd watch."
Fargen provides his horse the necessary care, peeking often at how the others treat their steeds. The dwarf stays up a bit smoking his pipe during Doyal watch, "I think we best leave the creature alone. I'd rather not be bewitched, so let's hope it's a quiet night."
Thufir nods and, with Fargen, ties his horse to a tree saying, “My mentor had a steed of his own, and that beast didn’t even need a rope. She’d just wait around. I’ll have to see how he did it, because so far, bonding with this one has been tough.” ((Animal handling 7)) He then adds, “Leave the woman in the lake alone. ‘Less she wants some company. Wake me when you’re tired Fargen.” He then lays down under a tree once their camp has been made and starts snoring. ((Perception for watch: 7))
Doyal succeeds in picketing the horses, The academic Tiethling, no. tying a length of rope between two trees as far as hobbling. Thufir is fought tooth and nail and the horses panic pulling against the rope. But Doyal calms them, barely. Thufir does not succeed
Doyal did you attune to your tattoo.
Those that haven't given me a perception check for their watch, do so.
After failing a second time, Nobody steps away and sighs; his tail also lashing about in agitation behind him. "Fine then. If its going to be this stubborn, then there is no point. If anything, this just proves how inevitably short this relationship may wind up being anyhow." He huffs and turns his efforts towards at least setting up an silent alarm around their sleep area. Although, as some might interpret from mutterings of the tiefling after, even he's not wholly convinced of the spell's effectiveness after the last time it had been thwarted.
"Also, Doyal? Thank you, if I hadn't said so before... F-for taking first watch. Ahem. And goodnight everyone." He then tucks in for the night in his bedroll nearby the others.
Nobody wakes up his spell activated seeing Yanda flying around chasing dragonfly's. The Dragonfly's are hunting tiny blind mosquitoes that came from the pond swarming in their annual mating season. Harmless but they're everywhere. Frogs are in a chorus, it would seem the to be The sounds of the woods in C minor. One of the horses join in with a loud sound of expelled gas. It would seem that nothing is happening in this happy forest but life at the moment.
As things slowly became clear, Nobody sighed and grumbled as he whipped out the black iron rod. Although it would eat up ten minutes of his rest, ritual cast he would again to recreate the silent ward, making sure to remove insects and other tiny critters from the new equation... as well as Yanda, assuming he forgot again. As the spell completes with the thin string of abjuration magic fading from view, it's only then another thought occurs to him.
"I can't dismiss the other one... I'm not getting any sleep tonight, am I?" He groans, rubs his face, and tries to keep himself occupied the remainder of the night studying his book while doing his best to ignore the pings from his previously cast spell. A very long and exhausting night. Such was the plan, but... then another thought occurred to him that would lead to his checking around the campsite within the radius of the first alarm, searching for any odd impressions in the ground. The kind that perhaps couldn't have come from the group.
(Not sure if Survival or Perception would be more appropriate, but both are only a +1 for Nobody anyhow. So, here's a flat wis roll)
Wisdom Check: 13.
If his search yields nothing as well, he'd grumble and go back to his book, muttering in [draconic]:
Your perception roll earlier was good enough Nobody and you don't notice anything but maybe five or ten spiders crawling about near the horses making webs catching the mosquitoes. I'll let you dismiss the spells this time but if you want to keep the last please be more descriptive on its parameters cause one of group may want to get up and answer the call of nature.
But since you're up Nobody your watch ends and now its Fargens
I suppose Thufir is taking 3rd watch correct. Fargen notes a few more tiny spiders passing thru as the noisy but peaceful night moves on. And if you wake Thufir its his watch unless you want to post something in role play.
Doyal waves off Nobody's thanks as he sets up for his watch. During his watch Doyal will pull out the ink and needle he had been gifted and applies the magic tattoo on to his arm. After taking the time to fully attune to the tattoo Doyal is momentarily thrown for a loop as he gains the ability to see in the dark, but soon after he grows acclimated to it. Following that Doyal keeps glancing over to the lake where they saw the woman every now and the during his watch.
Doyal: You don't see anything other than water towards the lake but you do notice the tree the horses are picketed to is becoming heavily covered in webbing.
Taking note of the webbing Doyal looks for the source and informs the person taking watch after him about the webs, but if it's obvious that the source of the webs are not normal sized spiders then he will attempt to move the horses away from them to a safer area and alert the party.
