Howdy folks, I need an opinion: I have a Level 4 Hexblade Bladelock that I am considering multiclassing with Swashbuckler Rogue. After I reach Warlock 5 is when I would consider starting this, and I would probably only take it to level 3. What are the biggest things that I would be giving up? I play in a group that is a "guild-style" group: the party composition is never the same, and we do a series of 1-2 shots as people are available.
RP-wise, he got fatally wounded in a duel, but his patron (based on Skyrim's Boethiah) brought him back to do her bidding. He likes to be in the front line and will seek out duels if his patron compels him to. She (his patron) likes taking down corrupt rulers by whatever means necessary.
Both Options have merits, Swashbuckler provides excellent synergy with its char intiative bonus, one on one sneak attack with nobody around within 5 feet of you, safe disengage,Cunning Action, Expertise and finally 2d6 sneak attack dice. Lets weigh it aginst what you will be missing from warlock : 8th invocation,ASI and once per day 1 minute all spell slots regain.
its your own choice but to me it doesnt seem like that big of a loss by doing the multiclass, the real question is if youre willing to spend 3 levels back to back without changing your spells out or if you'll alternate them, I recomend just powering through the rogue levels to get what you want.

Did you (OP) ever decide on this? I’m planning the same thing, and am curious how it’ll work out.
Nice! My proposed character comes from a culture where duels are common too, so it's seeming like a good fit, RP-wise.
I like the multiclass, but I'd commit deeper into the multiclass. More sneak, more damage!
