"They're elementals of some kind then?"Finley asks as he pulls a torch out of this pack. "Do ye have a lot of creatures like this around here, Duke? Or has someone caused some mischief here?"
"I'm...not...sure," Valrieth says uncertainly while watching the coals carefully. "If they cannot speak, they might just be animated coals: mundane objects that someone enchanted to cause mischief. That certainly seems like something a tricksy fey might do."
The coals don't respond, but as soon as they are at the doorway they stop as they do not desire to be close to water. They back up and the fires burn hotter around their bodies,
Speaking Auran reminds Gan-Re on a subconscious level of his ties to the Elemental plan of air. The battles that his ancestors faced with those of the planes of earth and fire rise up in his mind. The fight with Longscarf and what almost happened to him and his friends when they were too gentle prompts him on. "Nothing but I don't think that they are friendly. We cannot just let them build a massive fire and burn down the village. Sorry Val but I think they need to be stopped." Gan-Re uses his staff like a baseball bat and tries to knock coal 2 into the water.
[OCC let me know what I should roll for that]

Gan-Re: Aarakocra Barbarian - The Wild Beyond the Witchlight | DM - Keys of Empire
(OOC: @Weathetvision, since we didn't actually make it outside, we're rewinding a bit. Do we still have 3 full buckets of water? Duke Ickrind filled all 3 buckets. IIRC, we haven't used any of that water, yet, because that's when Val started trying to lure the coals outside.)
"Nothing but I don't think that they are friendly. We cannot just let them build a massive fire and burn down the village. Sorry Val but I think they need to be stopped." Gan-Re uses his staff like a baseball bat and tries to knock coal 2 into the water.
When Valrieth sees that they stopped at the door and turned back inside, she dismisses her flame (from Produce Flame). She's assuming that the coals are probably resistant to fire. She goes back inside and responds to Gan-Re: "I know. I just had to try."
As Gan-Re goes after Coal #2, Val picks up a bucket and heads toward Coal #1 with a grim expression. She wonders out loud, "Finley, do you think that your armored attacks could squash this one?"
She doesn't actually use the water this round, but she's trying to keep Coal #'1's attention on her and her bucket and herd it toward Finley. She's trying to help Finley attack the coal no matter whether he decides to use a bucket of water or his thunder gauntlets. (OOC: that should cancel out Coal #1's dodge so that Finley can make a regular attack without disadvantage.)
Movement: Up to 30 ft. to walk back into the building and move to within 5 ft. of coal #1, preferably on the far side of the coal to herd it back toward Finley. Action: Help Finley attack coal #1. Bonus Action: None Free Action: Picking up a bucket of water
"Aye, ah think they could." Runes begin to glow on Finley's armor and a shimmering shield briefly appears in the air around him before he moves up to one of the coals(#1) and the runes on his gauntlets glow as he slams down a fist on it.
If hit the target catches on fire and will take 2 fire damage each turn unless the target takes and action to douse the flames.
(OOC: @Weathervision - that attack should have been rolled with disadvantage since it was not attacking Finley. From the Thunder Gauntlets description:
A creature hit by the gauntlet has disadvantage on attack rolls against targets other than you until the start of your next turn, as the armor magically emits a distracting pulse when the creature attacks someone else.
I'm hoping that even if the second attack roll is a hit, it won't be a critical hit. 🙂 )
If I understand correctly, the extra 2 points of fire damage does not apply until the end of Val's next turn, assuming that she doesn't extinguish the fire.)

"Any luck, Gan-Re?"
